Talk to a Therapist Before Booking
Yes, you are welcome to speak with a therapist before scheduling your appointment. Whether by phone or in person, we are happy to connect and make sure you feel informed and comfortable.
Our team takes time to understand your needs, answer any questions, and recommend the service that aligns with your goals.
When you are ready, the most important step is to begin. Massage can be a meaningful way to support your health and overall well-being. From the first conversation, we are here to make your experience thoughtful and supportive.
What to Expect During a Massage Session
Before your session begins, your therapist will ask about your health, preferences, and any areas of concern. This conversation helps ensure that your massage is safe, comfortable, and focused on your needs.
You will then be given privacy to undress to your comfort level and lie on the massage table. A clean sheet will be used to keep you covered throughout the session. Only the area being treated will be uncovered at any time.
Comfort and Atmosphere
- Supportive cushions and an adjustable face rest are provided to help you feel relaxed and at ease.
- The room is quiet and warm, with soft music to encourage deep relaxation.
What Should I Wear
For a full body massage, most clients choose to undress fully or leave on underwear. Either choice is completely appropriate. Your comfort is always our priority.
Will Oils or Lotions Be Used
Most sessions include a light oil or lotion to allow smooth movement over the skin. Some styles do not require any oil, and in those cases, you may remain fully clothed.
How to Relax During a Massage: Simple Tips
Your therapist is trained to guide you through the session. Before the massage begins, they will ask about your health, comfort level, and any areas of tension. Once you are on the table, the focus is on helping you feel safe, supported, and calm.
- Breathe naturally
Slow, steady breathing helps calm your nervous system and settle your mind. - Stay present
Pay attention to how your body feels instead of thinking about tasks or responsibilities. - Communicate
If something feels uncomfortable, let your therapist know. They want you to feel at ease. - Close your eyes
Many clients find it easier to relax when they reduce visual distractions.
Should You Talk During the Massage?
Some clients prefer quiet time, while others feel more relaxed when talking. Both are completely acceptable. The goal is to do what feels right for you.
What to Wear for Maximum Comfort
For a full-body massage, most clients either undress completely or leave on undergarments, based on personal comfort. You will be covered with a clean sheet, and only the area being massaged will be uncovered during the session.
Will Oils or Lotions Be Used?
Most massages include a light oil or lotion to help the therapist glide smoothly over your skin. If you are receiving a clothed technique, no oils are used and you may remain fully dressed.
Common Challenges with Relaxation
It is normal to feel distracted or a little self-conscious during your first massage. If that happens, remind yourself that this is a judgment-free space. Every body is unique, and therapists work with all types of clients.
Music, warm lighting, and supportive tools like face cradles and cushions help create a peaceful setting. You do not need to relax perfectly. Just breathe, and let your body respond in its own way.
Still feeling unsure? That is okay. Let your therapist know, and they will adjust your session to support you fully.
How the Body Can Feel Afterward
Wondering how you might feel after your massage? Most clients leave with a deep sense of relaxation, reduced tension, and improved mobility.
Some people also notice better sleep, lower stress, or increased energy that lasts for days. For others, the changes feel more gradual, with benefits that continue to build over time. Every body responds a little differently, but most clients feel better than when they arrived.
If this is your first session, give yourself time to rest, stay hydrated, and enjoy the positive effects of your massage.
Undress and Dress Time
Your massage session includes a brief preparation period so you can get settled and speak with your therapist about any preferences.
During this time, you can change into comfortable attire, mention any health concerns or focus areas, and begin to relax before the massage starts.
This short, calming transition allows your session to begin smoothly and helps create a more supportive experience for your overall well-being.
Should Massage Be Painful: Myths and Facts
Should massage be painful? It is a common question, especially for first-time clients. The simple answer is no. Massage should not be painful when applied to healthy areas of the body. The idea that pain is required for results is a common misunderstanding.
A good massage works with your body, not against it. You should feel relaxed, not tense or bracing. If something does not feel right, let your therapist know. They can adjust the pressure or technique to better support your comfort.
What If I Am Getting a Massage for an Injury?
Mild discomfort can happen in areas that are healing or sore, especially at the beginning of a session. But even in those cases, the discomfort should lessen as your muscles respond. Massage should never feel sharp or overwhelming.
Why Communication Matters
Your therapist is trained to listen and adapt. If you are unsure about the pressure or the approach, just speak up. Open communication helps you receive the most benefit without unnecessary discomfort.
Massage Ticklish Sensations
Even if you are naturally ticklish, most clients are surprised to find that massage does not trigger that response. The pressure used is gentle yet firm, with the goal of relaxing your muscles without causing discomfort.
If you know you are especially sensitive in certain areas, just let your therapist know. They can adjust the pressure or avoid those areas to make sure your experience feels calm and comfortable.
Is It Okay to Mention Ticklish Areas?
Absolutely. Sharing that information helps us tailor your session to your comfort level. Your well-being is our priority, and we are happy to adjust the approach, so the massage feels peaceful and effective.

FAQ CategoryMassage Types and Wellness
Common Types of Massage and Their Benefits
There are several massage techniques to choose from, and each offers specific benefits. Whether your goal is to reduce stress, manage pain, or support recovery, the right approach can make a meaningful difference.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is one of the most requested techniques. It uses long, gliding strokes to promote full body relaxation and improve circulation. This style is a good fit for first-time clients or anyone seeking general stress relief.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage targets chronic tension and deeper muscle layers. It uses slower strokes and firmer pressure to release tight areas and support muscle recovery.
Reflexology
Reflexology focuses on pressure points in the hands, feet, and ears that are believed to correspond with other parts of the body. It offers a gentle option that many clients find balancing and calming.
Targeted Stretching
This approach combines massage with assisted stretching. It is designed to improve flexibility and reduce muscle tension. It can be helpful for active individuals or those working to regain mobility during recovery.
How to Choose the Best Type of Massage for You
When deciding on a massage style, consider your main goal. For general relaxation, Swedish massage is a strong starting point. Deep tissue and targeted stretching are more effective for chronic tension, physical strain, or athletic recovery. Reflexology is ideal if you prefer a focused approach with lighter pressure.
If you are not sure which massage is right for you, let us know when booking. We will help you choose the best option for your needs.

Student vs. Licensed Massage: What’s the Difference?
Not sure which type of session is right for you? Here’s a quick comparison to help you choose based on your goals and comfort level.
Student Massage:
These sessions are provided by students who are actively enrolled in our massage therapy program and completing their required internship hours. Each session is supervised by a licensed massage therapist and follows a structured approach using Swedish-based techniques. They are an affordable option for general relaxation and also support students as they build real-world experience.
Licensed Massage:
These sessions are provided by therapists who have completed their training, passed state exams, and received full professional licensure. Licensed care offers more customization and is often a better fit for deeper pressure, focused work, or specific therapeutic needs.
Both options offer excellent value. The right choice depends on your goals, preferences, and budget. If you’re not sure which to choose, we’re happy to help.
